Good looking shoe that is comfortable also.

I ordered a half size smaller due to some of the previous reviews and could not get my foot into it. These are very narrow shoes. Looked nice, but cannot wear them.

The Johnston & Murphy Conard cap toe is a beautiful shoe, with stylish details and color that have earned me compliments from men and women. The quality of the show is not as high as Johnston & Murphy’s Melton (e.g., lining not as well done, odd number of lace holes versus even number, synthetic outsole). The Conard breaks in more quickly than the Melton and has a generous toe box for a shoe of its type (other brands I tried on were too tight in the toes). The synthetic outsole grips better than a leather sole, though I could not say how long it will last. I would buy this shoe again.

Great shoe but I have a wider foot and the cap sits farther back than most causing a funny break and pinch in my pinkie toe. Never had this problem with other caps. Came with two different color shoe strings which I liked!

This is a snazzy shoe! I found it comfortable and did not need to break in the shoe. While the sole is pretty hard, there is a slight padding on top of the sole so the shoe is still quite comfortable. I have a size 14 foot with wide toes and I found the toebox to be adequate. My toes do not feel crunched.

Have 2 pairs of this style in black and navy and absolutely love the style. Looks great with slacks and are very comfortable for long days in the office. I wear a 12 in athletic shoes and wear an 11 in J&M’s as these consistently run a little smaller. I have 5 or 6 different J&M shoes and all have a consistent fit. These are slightly narrower than other J&M styles, but after broken in fit fine.

As long as Johnston & Murphy continue to make this model, I will keep buying it.
I began to venture into wearing oxford-style shoes three years ago, and with each successive pair—Either Bass & Co. or Stacy Adams—I felt like I was transitioning more into a style that suited my personality. I finally ponied up just a few more dollars than my original price point to get these when I found them, and I have found my shoe.
I will say that at first, the shoe can feel narrow, especially if you have mid-wide feet like me, but it breaks in well. Some of my previous shoes really had to stretch noticeably to accommodate my feet. The Conards, however, keep their form.
While I wish they had been more durable, I ran them ragged by doing anything and everything in them that one shouldn’t do with oxford-style shoes. Even so, my current pair still holds together pretty well (even after I separated the toe from the outsole after skateboarding).
As someone with arched feet, the support isn’t anything magical. I don’t feel like I’m pulling muscles, though, or walking around with sore feet, which I think is about as good as you should expect with this style of shoe. If you want arch support, buy the blocky knockoff-looking models with geriatric and scholl’s-esque outsoles. I, on the other hand, will take an elegant heel with a pleasing acoustical clack any day.
I’ll be getting rid of these suckers soon because I put damp feet into them one too many times and the smell can occasionally waft up even while wearing them. My replacements will be the exact same size and color (tan), and a burgundy or navy pair will be soon to follow for my darker outfits.

I bought my regular size in a pinch to replace older dress shoes. I wore these for 4 days straight with zero break in period — very comfortable and little to none foot pain after long days. I would recommend a shoehorn, the back of the shoe is a little stiff.

I really like these shoes! Came with standard black laces but also blue ones that jazzed it up a bit. The laces were a bit long, but other than that, I got lots of compliments.

My granpa always taught me, “the first thing people view on a man is his shoes”. I love the classic, timeless look of this shoe. Can never go wrong with Johnston and Murphy.

Awesome. Thank you.

I’ve always struggled with field goals longer than 40 yards. But since I got these shoes, I’m nailing everything from 50+. Plus they look pretty dapper too.

These are some really nice shoes from Johnston & Murphy. The fit is superb, I wear a 12 wide in my dress shoes and this is probably the best fitting dress shoe I’ve owned. The calfskin leather is very nice quality and seems like it will break in and wear nicely over time. The outer is your typical dress shoe outer, however they’ve done a nice job on adding rubber points on this shoe so that it’s not quite as slippery as some wood/leather outsole dress shoes I’ve had in the past. I docked this shoe one star because the support just isn’t what I’ve come to expect from Johnson & Murphy, and this would be okay if the insole is removable but it isn’t… which is just odd. Any good shoe, especially a $170 dress shoe should have a removable insole to accommodate orthotics. Other than that, it’s a nice and stylish shoe that I fully expect to last.

These black dress shoes are very stylish, but in a classic way. Well made uppers with a split rubber/leather heel. Well made and comfortable from the outset. They even threw in blue shoe laces if you wanted to push the envelope. May get them next in brown
Kevin J –
Great looking shoe and appeared to be of great quality. However, my satisfaction crashed when the heel completely fell off after just the 5th or 6th time wearing them. Extremely poor quality

I bought a pair of these 2 years ago and have worn them almost every day since then. They are finally almost worn out, and i ordered a new pair of the exact same shoe and size. This is a great shoe for the price and holds up well under heavy use. Even with heavy use, a little shoe polish always had them looking like new again. highly recommend.

Great shoe.

I bought these in Brown and Black because of the look and feel. These shoes are amazing and a must have for those special occasions.
Kara C –
Excited to use these for my wedding! Overall great quality, just a bit narrow but I think they should get better with time.
Lonnie –
This is a very well made and good looking shoe. Sadly, the width, 2ee was not wide enough not for me. The other pair I ordered at the same time, the Florsheim, Midtown, Wingtip, Oxford came in a 3eee and it is a perfect fit. I will have to return this shoe.
David –
This awesome pair of shoes look great! My wide feet felt no squeeze with these shoes. Strong heel and sole. The shoes toe shine will make you stand out!!
